Alabama Tornado Response

On Wednesday evening, a series of storms swept throughout the southern states, hitting Alabama especially hard. Authorities estimate that as many as 231 people have been killed in 6 states, making this one of the most devastating tornado outbreaks in the country’s history.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are affected by this devastation, as well as the first responders who are working around the clock to help victims and start the cleanup.

Grilled Wing Tailgate Recipe

Spring and summer are great times – especially for family BBQ’s and tailgating for your favorite baseball teams. I’m going to share my recipe for delicious somewhat-spicy wings you can do on the grill (no mess). It works great for any type of grilled chicken too!

– 1/4 cup of olive oil
– 2 tbl of garlic chili paste (you’ll find it in the Asian section)
– 2-6 tbl of your favorite hot sauce (depends on the heat you want)
– 1 tsp of chopped fresh garlic
– 2 tsp of molasses or honey
– a couple of splashes of fresh lime juice
– 1 tsp of lite soy sauce

Combine all ingredients together in a blender. Season your chicken with salt and pepper, then toss in the marinade. Let set for at least 6 hours, but overnight is even better. Then, fire up the grill and get to cooking! The molasses cuts the heat, and makes for a nice glaze.

If you try them and enjoy it – let me know here or on our Facebook Page!

California Casualty Careers

California Casualty is a great place to work – it’s full of great people who really care about our customers. A lot of companies say that, but I can attest to the fact it’s not just lip-service here. It also helps that we have a wonderful base of customers – Nurses, Educators, Firefighters, and Peace Officers – and it’s great to know that what you’re doing at work helps those people who help others on a daily basis.

That being said – we just launched a new Careers section of our Facebook page, and I encourage you to check it out, as well as an overview video of our company. If you’re interested in working here, view the different available jobs, and submit your application.

Come on – what are you waiting for?!?!
