Hi there, I truly enjoyed the humanistic approach to all of these quotes. Any chance I could ask your sources? I would like to use a couple for a scholarly research paper.
Debbie – These were pulled from quote sites and Nurse publications from all across the internet, so there isn’t a group of sources to pull from. You just gotta dig!
When I was in nursing school, we were asked to give our view of what being a nurse means. This one is mine:
“To be a nurse for the right reason is to treat each patient as a V.I.P. and not just a part of the J-O-B!”
The first quote comparing a nurse’s attention to a neurosurgeon is not true. I know this will make people angry, but it’s just not true. Nurses are wonderful-both of my parents are nurses and I am in health care. But I have also had brain surgery-it’s just not even in the same category. I received absolutely wonderful care from nurses whose names I DO remember, but it’s not comparable
Nurses are identified by caring hearts, compassionate souls, and competent minds. They are composites of science and humanity.
