Be sure to read all our heroes’ stories here.
In 2000, Dustin realized he wanted to work in law enforcement, and soon after, he started with the Shasta County Sheriff’s office. He put in his time working with the local jail, and soon made it to patrol.
In October 2010, Mrs. Reynolds received the call no police wife wants: “You need to come to the hospital, there has been an accident.” Dustin was in the hospital receiving 28 staples in his head from a harrowing altercation.
Now that he has recovered, Dustin makes a strong impact on his community. He works as a Detective for the Shasta County Coroner’s Office, and is noted for his ability to offer comfort for other families during tough times in their lives.
Dustin continues to do presentations at local schools, showing children what life is like in law enforcement. He is also very active in coaching youth football.

Good man Dustin, a real hero in our community.
Vote for Dustin! 🙂
I vote for Dustin. He is compassionate and patient with families and tries to help them through the death of their loved ones.
Deputy Reynolds was my trainer and is a great leader. His actions on the night of his incident were heroic. Reynolds was in a life or death fight and never gave up. His actions and the actions of his partner saved his life.
Dustin is an amazing, strong & confident law enforcement officer! His traumatic experience unexpectently exposed him to the true value of human life and just how quickly it could end! Dustin has taken this knowledge to a new level in his work as a Det. Coroner and has lead the painful path for those who have lost loved ones. Dustin has a gift of life and God has made him a protective soldier for those in need here on earth!!
Dustin is an amazing person and the words shared by others have brought me to tears. Thank you Dustin for all you do and will contiune to do. You are a selfless and caring human being. You make me want to be a better person.
XOXO
Dustin Reynolds saved me when I was in a life and death fight. If it wasnt for Dustin’s quick reponse I have no doubt I would be dead or critically injured! Thank you Dustin for saving my life! You will always be my hero!
I don’t personally know Dustin, but I do know this, any law enforcement officer earns his pay every day. They protect us 24-7 and never complain. They are likened to our Soldiers..They are homeland soldiers God Bless you Dustin..keep up the good work. Warren And Shyla Burch

Dustin is by far one of the kindest, compassionate, and caring men you could ever meet. He’s a true blessing to know and interact with. My vote will always go to Dustin…..
It’s truly amazing to me to see the incredible comments made about my son. He has always been a truly loving and caring person. He is an awesome son, father, husband, brother and uncle. He can certainly be a comfort to anyone in their moment of need. I am so very proud of him….I thank God that he was spared that night when he was injured so badly–obviously he was saved to fulfill a plan not yet revealed…
I vote for Dustin. We need more good officers like him.
Dustin has always been good with people. He has a talent to ease tension in situations. I can only say “Thank you for your service.”
Dustin is most deserving of the award. He is a great officer, a wonderful
dad and husband. He is strong in his convictions and things of others before himself. They don’t make many men like him.
Dustin, we have known each other since the third grade. I am proud to be your life long friend. Time has taken us away from each other for a short period of time….but that is because we believe in our core values taught to us by our own parents, family, religious beliefs, job, and friends. You make me a better person… knowing the rigors of everyday life of family. Our families are both in law enforcement….and there is not a day, minute or second that we don’t think of safety first! You are a man of faith, integrity, and respect…God Bless Buddy!
Dustin is one of the most giving people I know. He not only is a wonderful man to the community, he’s a good husband and father. I’m so happy to be able to call him my Son In Law. We are very lucky to have him in our family, he’s one very special person and we so dearly love him.
Thanks for being my dad for 10 1/2 years. Love you
Love the family pic Dustin. Doing what you do everyday takes a special person and you are a true hero for that!
I have had the priveledge of telling Dustin where to
Go since he started with SCSO. As his dispatcher, one of the first thing I learned was, he was a hard worker and would shag calls in his beat and surrounding beats of others were tied up on big incidents and he wasn’t. Next to that, I learned Dustin learned early on to make it you need to have a sense of humor. My, oh my does he have a wicked sense of humor. But one thing I’ve known since day one with him, is when he goes to work, he plans to go home to his lovely wife and handsome son. The two people who truly mean the world to him. To sum it up, Dustin has figured out a balance between personal and professional and made it work for him and his family. Congrats on the nomination you truly deserve it.

Dustin is my brother in law and being a single mother it is very important to me that my children have a positive male role model in their lives. He has taught them about courage and strength and what it’s like to be a positive, productive part of society. I am very happy and very thankful to have him in their lives.
I have known Dustin since the 1st grade. Even with the time and distance that life has brought, I know that he is still one of the most upstanding and loyal friend, partner, confidant and coworker anyone could ask for. There were many years we had each others back and for those in his life now, they should feel blessed. Thank you for what you do foe your community Dustin (worm).
I have been fortunate enough to work with Dustin and have witnessed 1st hand how much he cares for his fellow Deputies and the community. He is a fine example of what a good beat-partner is supposed to be, even in his position as a Detective Coroner. Even though Dustin is not driving the black and white patrol car at the moment, he is still there for his fellow Deputies on the street. Dustin is alert to what is going on, and is one of the 1st to answer the call when help is needed. Imagine my surprise when on Christmas night I called for help and Dustin came speeding in with his coroner truck riding on smoking, red hot, studded snow tires absolutely ready to fight right beside me and my patrol partners. Shouldn’t he have been home with the family? Shouldn’t he have handled his Coroner business and rushed home to enjoy the rest of his holiday? Nope. Dustin answered the call. And answered the call again. That is who Dustin is. Selfless, and a team player. Willing to make the sacrifices that matter so others might suffer less, or live more. I was actually not surprised to see Dustin ‘coming in hot’ at all….. This is just one example, out of many personal reasons, I believe Dustin deserves recognition for his dedication to what is an inherently thankless job. Those of you who are family should be so very proud. Those of you who are his friends; consider yourselves fortunate, and take comfort in knowing that in your time of need, Dustin will be there for you. And to the community he serves: all you have to do is make the call….
