Be sure to read all our hero’s stories here.
Dan is a full- time educator and a full-time family man. His daily life isn’t an easy one. He cares for two family members with serious illnesses, while working multiple jobs (as teacher, private tutor, and teacher’s assistant for an on-line university) to provide food, shelter, and pay medical bills.  He doesn’t let stress prevent from living out his passion, however. Dan has been teaching for over 20 years. He brings his full spirit and character to the classroom every day, leaving stress at the door. Dan constantly challenges himself and others, working to make sure that every day is better than the last for his students. Dan’s continued work in the classroom is an inspiration – and his selfless love for his family and devotion to his students makes him a hero.

Dan was my English teacher my junior year of high school. He made learning interesting and had some corny joke every day. His students really mean something to him and it shows. Because of his class, I took a deeper interest in writing and have begun work on my own novel.
Thank you, Carle. Keep going on that novel.
Mr.T is the greatest person ever. Once your a student of his, your always a student. Go Mr.T!
Thanks, Melonie. I feel the same way.
@Carle: Thanks for the support! I appreciate it. Good luck on your novel. @Melonie: Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad you feel like YOU’RE always a student of mine. I’m always happy to teach you. 🙂
Dan was my master teacher when I was student teaching. He really does bring spirit to the classroom. He has a great stage presence and is a great mentor. He’s a hero to me because he is such a great part of who I am today.
Thank you, Karen. Your comments mean so much to me. More than you know. You are a fine teacher and I’ve been so proud of you over the years. Thanks again.
Mr. T made my sophomore year bearable. I hated that year for so many reasons, but every day during 7th period I felt privileged to be in school. I learned a lot that year because of his fantastic teaching skills. We’re still close today because he always made me felt at home in his classroom. I loved his class so much that I actually wrote a song about him, which you can listen to here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq65XSO1T_4 Please vote for Mr. T, he deserves this more than anyone.
King Sassy, thank you for the kind words and for giving me some insight into how that year went for you. You’ve become a very smart and funny person and I love reading your Facebook status updates. And did I mention that the song is still on my iPod? 🙂 And Florian! And Florian! And Florian! 🙂
Best teacher hands down, always cared about anyone that crossed his path and helped them anyways that he could. You rock Mr. T and thank you for everything you do!
Sophia, I’m going to steal an expression I heard many years ago because it reminds me of you. I heard someone described as “the toughest marshmallow I know.” Does that sound familiar? 🙂 Thanks for your kind words and come some time and give me an update.
Mr. T was the most amazing teacher I had in high school. He was my freshman English teacher and I learned so much from him. Grateful for the experience! He deserves any honorable mention/award that comes his way.
Ashley, Thanks so much for such kind words. I appreciate all the support. It means a lot. Hope you’re doing well. Take care.
Lets go mr T!
Adam, Thanks for the encouragement and support not only here, but at school this year. I appreciate it. See you tomorrow!
Mr. T !!! Never forget sophomore year.
One amazing, humorous, talented and qick witted man! His devotion and passion for teaching is so evident. Students adore his teaching style, and quickly bond to his caring nature. He will go above and beyond to encourage and help his studenrs be successful! He’s one of a kind!
I really hope Dan wins. I’ve taught with him for many years, and he absolutely deserves this.
My goal when I went into teaching was the same goal I’ve had as a parent–to put something decent into the world that might carry on long after I’m gone. When I read the comments that all of you have written, I feel as if I’ve reached that goal. Thank you. That’s the reward. I am touched and humbled by your comments, all of them. Really. Thank you very much.
You deserve this Danny and I am honored and proud to know you as a colleague and friend. You have encouraged, listened, and inspired many- myself included.

Deserving to win!
