Teaching can be an enormously challenging job. As a result, it’s not uncommon for teachers to sometimes wonder if the impact they make is worth the challenges they face. We thought it would be helpful to create a space where educators could come together to discuss these challenges.
And that’s exactly what we did. Thanks to help from SoulPancake, we brought 5 teachers together to discuss the challenges they face. There were a few laughs, a few tears, and some pretty incredible surprises.

This is an awesome video. I am a substitute teacher, and often feel the same way after being in the same building and district for so long. As an Educator, you want to make an impact… Even if just 1 child/family. I love the feeling I could imagine these teachers and coach felt listening to the positive impact they made on the lives of these young people. It also served as feedback; I like that the letters were individualized. Great video!
I just retired after thirty three years of teaching and always wonder how many children I have left with positive memories that will help carry them forward in life. Teachers are responsible for more than just academic enrichment. I hope I have connected with my students and reached them on multiple levels with important life lessons that will help them succeed beyond term papers and standardized tests. This video is what all teachers desire as their legacies!
Thank you.
Just crying!
This was a great video! I retired 3 years ago after teaching in the primary grades for 40 years. I enjoyed the students I had over the years and was happy when I would get brothers and sisters. I knew that I had made an impact on students’ lives when they would come back to my school to see me and tell me what they were doing. One year a student came with her father and had him take a picture of the two of us. She became a teacher in a college on the east coast and I was so thrilled! One former 1st grade student told me that she became a teacher because of me. She is now a principal and working on her doctorate. I liked what the teachers in this video had to say and then seeing what their former students had to say was the icing on the cake.
